Rules of Conduct
Participation in the Central Virginia Junior Golf
Tournaments is possible because of the cooperation of the member clubs and their patrons, the owners, and the golf professionals. The Central Virginia Junior Golf Association will not tolerate poor etiquette or bad behavior. Actions that are counter to good sportsmanship and the Rules of Golf will result in disqualification from all Central Virginia Junior Golf events. Those actions include, but are not restricted to, cheating, profanity, and/or club throwing.
All golfers must read and understand the above Rules of Conduct and the restrictions on “caddying” and agree to these guidelines. All decisions by the Events Chairman are final.
Parental Involvement
No youth program can succeed without the involvement of the parents and the CVJGA is no exception. The goal of the CVJGA is to give the junior golfer the opportunity to experience golf and competition. Golf, by nature, is a game that requires self-reliance. To help nurture this self-reliance we have to ask the parents to restrict themselves in helping their junior golfer in these competitions.
Ages 12 and Under
We ask junior golfers age 12 and under always are accompanied by an adult. A golf cart will be supplied for the adults to accompany the junior golfer. The golfer must carry his bag on the hole he is playing, but can be driven between the green and the teeing ground of the next hole. Adults or non-competitors can offer advise on club selection, line of play, and the Rules of Golf. Adults or non-competitors cannot offer advise on reading greens.
Ages 13-14
Junior golfers in the 13-14 age group must carry their bag the entire round. If an adult accompanies the junior golfer, the adult can only offer advise on the Rules of Golf. However, the player will bear the consequences if the advise on the Rules of Golf is incorrect.
Ages 15 and Over
Junior golfers competing is this age bracket are not permitted caddies during the stipulated round.
